Population and Culture:
The population of Rhodes is about 90,000 half
of which lives in Rhodes Town. The official language
is Greek but the majority of the Locals speak
English.
Religion and Culture:
90% of the population is Greek Orthodox. Most
Churches are open to public. If you wish to visit
one, please respect the dress code. Some Churches
do not allow shorts.
Chemists
Identified by a green and red cross. Open weekdays
8:00-13:00, 17:00-21:00 and on Saturdays 8:00-14:00.
Sundays most chemists are closed.
Post Office
The main post office is opposite Mandraki Harbour
in Rhodes Town and opens weekdays until 20:00.
Around the island the post boxes are yellow. Stamps
can be purchased from the post office and from
all supermarkets and souvenir stores.
Tourist Information Office
Opens Monday-Friday 7:30-14:00, and is situated
in the corner of Makariou street and Panagou in
Rhodes Town.
Taxis
There are plenty of taxis on the island. All the
taxis are colored blue with red license plates.
You can flag them down or you can get one from
the designated taxi stations around the island.

Museums and Monuments
There are two main museums in Rhodes Town both
situated in the Old Town:
- The Archeological
Museum which is housed in the Hospital
of the Knights, the most important and best
preserved building from the period of the Knights
of St. John.
- Open Daily 8:00-14:30

- The Museum of
Popular Art which is home to beautiful
collection of ceramics, rugs and carpets, traditional
costumes, utensils, tools and furniture.
